“What’s Next” Meet-Up Event Provides Young Professionals with Insights to Begin a New Career and Tips for Finding Work, Starting a Business, and Building the Perfect Portfolio

NEW YORK (August 27, 2015) — The birth of a new generation brings a renewed sense of creative thinking, hope, new solutions, and a new way of seeing the world around us. It also brings a natural sense of apprehension, uncertainty, and confusion for young professionals just beginning their careers.  PhotoPlus Expo is hosting a Next Gen “What’s Next” meet-up event to help ease the confusion and apprehension associated with embarking on a new career. Exclusively for photographers between 17 and 25 years old, the event will provide relevant and up-to-the-minute information about how to jump-start your career, discover your next big move and enter the world of professional photography.

In addition, PhotoPlus Expo is offering a new Next Gen Young Adult Pass, a special flat fee of $99 for all attendees between 17-25 years of age. The pass provides access to all conference seminars, keynote presentations, and select special events as well as access to the 3-day expo featuring the latest in imaging technology from the most recognized brands in the world of photography, video, and filmmaking.

“We are very excited about the Next Gen ‘What’s Next’ event and there are so many seasoned and successful pros who are equally excited about sharing their tips and experiences with the next generation of creative professionals,” explains Jason Groupp, Director of PHOTO+ Membership and Education.  “Beginning a new career is both exciting and frightening and our goal is to provide next generation pros with initial tools, advice, and experience to help them over the hurdle of understanding where or how to begin.”

Jason Groupp will offer his advice on serving the photography community as well as an overview on how young professionals can get the most out of attending this year’s PhotoPlus Conference + Expo. The program includes a presentation by Ryan Parrilla & Dylan Hattem who will offer insight about how they got creative and leveraged media outlets to fuel the rise of Parrilla, a 16 year old photography sensation.  Presentations will also be conducted by PDN and Rangefinder Magazine editors-in-chief Holly Hughes and Jacqueline Tobin who will offer tips on how to gain the attention of art directors and other creatives looking for new talent.

For young professionals and students, this is an opportunity not to be missed. Immediately following the Next Gen “What’s Next” meet-up, all participants are invited to attend the free #trending panel discussion and Test Drive, where attendees can try and compare the latest photography gear, and explore the newest software solutions & photographic services from dozens of PhotoPlus exhibitors the evening before the Expo officially opens.

Attendees who wish to join the Next Gen “What’s Next?” meet-up event should register for PhotoPlus by October 20, 2015 and then RSVP at the Next Gen “What’s Next?” site.
